So I got the album (album sounds so much better than CD to me, more personal and less cold (CD's use numbers, I like the old style labels on vinyl records with the full title of each song spinning around and around) and besides, it is an album). So anyways, after getting With Teeth last year (?) and really enjoying it to some degree, yet at the same time thinking that Reznor lost that certain edge that the earlier NIN had, I was a little sceptical buying the CD, but I wanted Me, I'm Not in my collection, as I think it is truly a fantastic song, more rhythmic than anything, but truly a NIN song without a shadow of doubt, so I just had to get the album on that basis alone. It turns out that I do really like the album a hell of a lot more than I thought I would. Very much a synth/drum machine experience with walls of heavy mixed synth noises and heavy but very smooth beats, and ofcourse the perfect Reznor melodies all go to make this album sit comfortably in the ranks of one of the best albums I have heard in a long time. Some of the tracks I really love due to their powerful overall energy. Reznor still has it.
I finally got the box to ship the XBOX 360 yesterday. It was after I got home from the meeting at work. So it took 3 whole days to get to me, which is impressive really. What was not so impressive was the comment made when I took the 360 to the main drop off point where I live so the 360 could be shipped to Toronto. The courier said "just dropping off your XBOX 360 today?", and I am thinking ohh shit. I said "Yes, you guessed it was an XBOX then" and she said "We get a lot, a LOT of them", to which I could do nothing but have a nervous grin on my face. I will just track where the 360 is that I sent them. Hold on.... Well it is already there, so today they got it in Toronto, which is amzingly fast really. I hope I get the new (it better be new) 360 by the start of next week.
I got some music CD's yesterday. I got the latest Nine Inch Nails CD which I got just for that one song I put the video up for. I love that beat, it is just so cool. Then I got the Doors CD with all the hits on them. Always liked the Doors, but never bought one of their CD's. Then I got the kids a DVD for when they come over, which I know they will love to watch. But next week on my weekend off we are going camping for a couple of nights. Hopefully it don't rain, but the weather, although sunny and hot, has been feeling a whole lot cooler recently.
Time to go, got to copy the CD's on my computer and then put them on my MP3 player.
I am home from work. So tired really. I just want to sleep, but I go a meeting to go to today. That's fine, I will go to it and then eventually get back home. I should get a couple of hours sleep in before I have to leave.
Anyways, main reason why I am making this post is because I just found this video on Youtube. I love this beat in this song. Very cool, and also it kinda reminds me of the better (more original) years of NIN.
So nothing on getting the box to ship the 360 to MS just yet. It has been three days since I called, but I guess we won't count the Monday, so two days then in a realistic way. I should get the box either Friday or Monday. This is frustrating to be very honest with you. The 360 is a great stress relief for me from a hard day of work. The PSP is cool though, so I should get something for that next week. Well, got to get ready for work. Working nights really sucks.
Yep, so at the start of my final day of vacation time and just after waiting for 5 fucking long hours to download the BIOSHOCK demo (which is amazing to say the least) my 360 starts to freeze. Then it freezes some more, and now I got the fucking 3 red lights flashing at me. What slap in the face! So I finally figured out the MS customer service number and called them with the call they probably get every second of the day there. The rep was very nice, understanding and exhaustingly sympathetic to the death of my 360. She informs me that because I live in Canada my 360 will not be repaired, but replaced. Hmm, OK. This should be interesting. One of the guys I play online with has had six XBOX 360's fail on him, so I hope I don't get the same fate as his gaming has had to this point. Actually I was talking to him online at the time it happened. We were both playing the BIOSHOCK demo, amazed at its graphics and gameplay. Then when it all started to happen he told me what to expect. I am starting to feel like everyone else that this has happened to, that possibly the 360 is just a timebomb of failure waiting to explode at any second. I will only replace the 360 one more time if I need to but no more than that. I will more than likely change over to the Wii for some time if I need to. For now though I got the PSP which is a nice machine.
So anyways, all this trouble with the 360 does not help me sleep at all. I got to catch up on my sleep as I am back to work which means working nights all the time. I enjoy it, but physically working at night is a stress for the body and the mind sometimes.
I got to go now. Shit, no 360 for some time. Crap!
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that someone on XBOX live sent me a message, wanting to give me MS points. That was odd so I sent them a message saying that was not possible. They then said if I gave them my account info then they would buy the points and give me the rest that they did not use. WTF, is this guy on crack or what. The fucker was trying to get my account info to get my credit card number. The gamertag was Eltino Good, and I am sure at first it said he was in the states, now it says he is in the UK. I need to file a complaint agains this prick ASAP, which I will do now.
So I have been on vacation now for possibly a month, or just over a month. It has been good. I went camping for some time at a local place called Springwater close to where I live.
This place does have a nice place to bicycle or walk along on the trail. Too many deer fly around though if you walk it (which is all I did on many occassions) so you will need to wear a hat or a hoody if you got one. Lots of bug spray on your arms and legs and head too for that matter. It was a very enjoyable 11 days there. Apart from the one weekend when we had some idiots trash a washroom there. I guess alcohol makes some people into complete assholes. Needless to say that particular day or night was somewhat not the normal setting for this great park. I love going to Springwater a lot. Highly recommended.
I ain't been doing too much other than that really. I guess for 2 of the weeks of my vacation my wife has been working, so things are not the same if you are by yourself if you want to do stuff. It just ain't the same. Plus I do enjoy the company of my wife, she is my best friend, I do believe we have a lot of fun together.
I feel rested enough to get back to work. Work, and it doesn't matter what kind of work you do, can get to you, almost in a soul destroying way really. I do tend to try to work on that though, so it doesn't get me down. My job is highly stressed and physically demanding really. Once wrong move and pretty much you could be in a lot of back pain. When dealing with people in transfering you not only have to keep focused on your body position, but also accomodate for any sudden changes in the patients movements. I know, I have suffered a back injury before, and it ain't nice when you are not able to walk. Also I deal a lot with emotional issues many people have. That I believe is the biggest challenge. Trying to understand the mind of someone is a hard thing to do, and dealing with many aspects of the elderly is challenging. That is where support of your co-workers is essential. But anyways, enough of work, I do what I have to do for others. Simple as that.
I think VOX compared to MySpace is such a easy thing to master. MySpace for some reason tries to make the simplest task as hard as possible. I gave up just trying to post a video on that thing. Forget it. As much as MySpace sites look good, I just don't have the time to waste with a puzzling site to use for the simplest things. VOX is where I am staying for my blog. I know with my site I have been posting a lot of music videos. I guess I am still at that stage of experimenting. It is cool, but I want to focus more on writing now.
For anyone that has lots of friends, Facebook is pretty good too. There is a little concern over it though. I think some of the applications want to know too much info about yourself and friends. Almost like taking a survey of sorts. I know there is some concern over aspects of Facebook, but for now it is a good source of contacting friends. Even sites like VOX can put some people off due to the less appealing straighforward approach that Facebook has. But VOX is easy enough.
Enough ramblings, time to post this and do some video gaming. But I got to say that 300 is possibly the best movie I have seen in many years. Violent, yes, but amazing too.
My brother Stephen is a very gifted artist. He produces his own original artwork, and I do truly like what he does. I have seen my brother work on his art many times and each time I do enjoy watching him in the process and seeing the art come alive. His artwork is very much a spiritual thing. Each picture is unique and one of a kind. I have added a link for anyone that would like to see his art for themselves.
